Learn Reiki this Autumn

September 15-17 | October 6-8 | October 27-29 | November 24-26

Autumn brings a sense of wonder at the beauty of nature as colours change around us.  As we move to cooler temperatures and shorter days it is a great time to join an engaging and educational Reiki course.  There is a motivation to take on new challenges and interests to keep the "winter blues" away!

People learn Reiki for a variety of reasons - personal growth, to have a healing therapy to use in a family setting, for self-treatment in supporting their own health, to work in a professional capacity with clients. Often people have learned one style of Reiki and want to explore different approaches and they join the growing number of people who are learning Jikiden Reiki.

The Jikiden Reiki Institute is based in Kyoto, Japan and works to spread the use of Reiki as a complementary healing system while preserving tradition and authenticity. As far as is possible you will learn in the same way that students learnt in Japan in the 1930's, maintaining the depth, grounding and simplicity of Reiki.

I'm an experienced Reiki practitioner and teacher who has been passionate about Reiki healing since 2006.  I teach Jikiden Reiki in small groups of two to six students, allowing the time and space for the learning to be absorbed. When the theory is understood you will be guided in the practice.  It is natural to us,  and you will be surprised at how quickly you will be giving Reiki treatments. You will learn in the company of like minded people, acquiring new skills and forming new friendships, both of which can last a lifetime.

Your starting point is Shoden and the next level is Okuden.

You can learn with me in Mirfield, or I can travel to teach in your area if you have three to six people who want to learn. Just contact me to arrange convenient dates.

Shoden

SHODEN is a Japanese word meaning 'first teaching' and is often referred to as Level One. It is taught over two full days, each day starting at 10am through to 6:30pm.  Your course begins with the background of the Jikiden Reiki Institute and the history of Reiki and its founding members. You will have an introduction to the fascinating culture of Japan and even learn a little of the language.  The giving and receiving of Reiju will be explained.  You will receive three Reiju during Shoden and there will be a clearing of your own energy system. You will be taught how to give a hands-on Reiki treatment and how to finish that treatment with a technique that stimulates circulation in the body. You will gain an understanding of the body's own natural healing systems and learn some first aid practices. You will be introduced to the Gokai, the five principles to help you live a healthy and happy life. Let them into your life - simple on the surface you will find a depth of wisdom within them.

There will be lots of time for practice so that you leave confident in your newfound skills. You will have a healing system for self-treatment and to use with family, friends and clients. It is an intensive course and students are surprised at how much they learn in a short period of time. It is the beginning and your knowledge grows  with experiences as you start to practice and your connection to Reiki deepens.

Okuden

Change how you see and see how you change.

OKUDEN is a Japanese word meaning 'inner teaching' and is often referred to as Level Two. It is taught in one full day 10am through till 6:30pm.

In this training you will find a deeper connection to and understanding of  Reiki.  You will receive two Reiju.  Okuden introduces new concepts and philosophies and your way of thinking and feeling may move.

You will learn how to give a SeiHeki treatment to help people move away from unwanted habits, such as untidiness, procrastination or nail biting, to easing fears and phobias and managing addictions.  Also covered in Okuden is the way to give Enkaku (a distance treatment) when people cannot be with you in person.  A practice long established in Japan.

With the teaching understood you will spend time practising, becoming familiar with the techniques you have learned.  We will also take time to give and receive hands-on Reiki treatments . With the  practice sessions completed, you will leave with added skills to help people work through emotional and psychological issues.

Students often say they feel their connection to Reiki has deepened as  the Okuden teaching settles within them.

You need to complete Okuden if you want take Shihan Kaku, the first teaching level.

Is it difficult to learn Reiki?

Jikiden Reiki is a simple technique that anyone can learn. It is natural to us, and you will quickly know how to give effective healing to yourself and others. It is an intesive training and classes are kept small to allow the time and space to absorb and practice new skills, and for questions to be answered along the way. You will see how Reiki was founded and developed - so important for your growth and understanding of Reiki. You will be part of a group of like-minded people and new skills will be formed alongside new friendships. Both can last a lifetime.

What will I learn?

Reiki opens hearts and minds. You will be introduced to new concepts and there will be a clearing of your own energy system. You will learn about the background of Reiki and its rich history. You will take a dip into the fascinating culture of Japan and even learn a little of the language as you connect with the Gokai. These are the five Reiki principles that are a guide to a good way to live each day. They appear simple but you will find a depth of wisdom within them. You start with Shoden (first teaching). You will learn about the body's own natural healing system and leave knowing how to give a hands-on Reiki treatment. You will have a healing system for self-treatment, and to use with family and friends, and your own clients.

What happens after Shoden - the first level?

Once you have completed Shoden, there are further options if you want to continue learning. You can next take the second level of Okuden (deeper teaching). Here you are taught techniques that support people to make positive changes in their lives. A Seiheki treatment is helpful when people want to move away from habits they have formed. Some common examples are nail biting, fear of spiders, lack of confidence, stopping smoking and other addictions. Okuden also includes the giving of Distance treatments. When you have completed both Shoden and Okuden and gained experience of giving treatments you can take the teaching levels of Shihan Kaku and Shihan.
